Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped pecans or almonds
- 1 cup granulated sugar (200 grams)
- 1 cup butter (226 grams)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water (60 ml)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Chocolate chips for topping
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine butter, sugar, salt, and water.
- Heat over medium until melted; stir continuously until boiling.
- Attach a candy thermometer and cook until reaching 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and chopped nuts.
- Pour onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips on top; let melt slightly and spread into an even layer.
- Garnish with additional chopped nuts if desired; allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
