- 1 lb broccoli (cut into bite-size florets)
- 1/2 lb button mushrooms (sliced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 2 tablespoons peanut oil
- 2 tablespoons vegetable broth
- 1 1/2 tablespoons light soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dark soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 4 dried Chinese chili peppers
- 2 green onions (sliced)
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce by mixing all sauce ingredients in a bowl.
- Create the slurry by combining cornstarch and water in another bowl.
- Steam broccoli in a skillet with water for 1 minute until tender. Set aside.
- Sear mushrooms in peanut oil until browned, then add garlic, ginger, and chili peppers.
- Combine broccoli and sauce into the pan; stir well before adding slurry to thicken.
- Serve hot over rice or as a side dish.
