  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ¾ tsp baking soda
  • ¾ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon (optional allspice)
  • Optional: ½ cup raisins, chopped walnuts, or shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together applesauce, water, oil or additional applesauce, vanilla extract, and vinegar.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and spices.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until just blended.
  5. Grease an 8-inch baking pan and pour in the batter.
  6. Bake for about 18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
